How To Get The Promotion You Deserve
If you are only delivering what is expected of you at work, I have bad news for you. I know. I should be the bearer of good news. After all, I’m the motivational speaker.
Well, in my opinion I think this is great news.
Listen, delivering what is expected of you is a sure bet that you will struggle all your life to just get by. Take a look at all the people who are enjoying the riches of life.
Do you think they got there by doing what is expected of them? The answer is a big no.
You see, if you’re not getting the promotion you think you deserve, or your bank account is static, you are simple doing what is expected of you.
Oh, sure there are some people who demand too much from us. But my point is still the same. Figure out a way to exceed their expectations, and you are in.
Am I making sense?
My point is to always over deliver. Think about it this way. Everyone has some kind of expectations of us. When you don’t meet those expectations, they are disappointed.
You might say, “What about when those expectations are met?” Well, when those expectations are met, nobody really notices. Do you know why? It’s because you did what’s expected. Here’s what goes on inside your boss’ head when you do a good job.
“You are doing what you are paid for.” Perhaps they are not saying it consciously. But rest assured that subconsciously they are saying it.
No one is surprised by the expected. There’s no shock value.
But, when you exceed expectations, magic happens. Not only they notice your going the extra mile, they are also happy. They feel good.
People pay a lot of money for a good feeling. Did you know that?
Notice when two people are madly in love. They’ll tell you so many reasons why they love each other so much.
However, the only real reason is because of how they feel. If you make others feel really good when they are around you, they will love you. The intensity of how good you make others feel creates an amazing bond!
That’s why lovers can’t live without each other. Got it?
It’s the same concept for better promotion at work. When you go out of your way to exceed expectations, your boss will feel good. And he or she will do whatever it takes to help you get promoted.
The same applies when it comes to exceeding customers’ expectations.
They love you for doing so. They will become loyal to you. They will never forsake you for another business that only meets their expectations.
